.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGE 1... Above-normal temperatures return today, with even
hotter weather likely next week. No measurable rain is forecast over
the next seven days.

Surface high pressure and ridging aloft will result in an
increasingly warm and humid weather pattern into next week.
Expect a slight cool down on Sunday with highs in the 70s near the
coast and low 80s inland on Sunday as a backdoor cold front nudges
into the area. Thereafter, a warming trend ensues with surface high
pressure offshore and upper-level ridging resulting in well-above
normal temperatures. Mid-upper 80s will be common away from the
coast with low 90s possible well-inland, nearing record temps during
mid-late week at Florence and Lumberton.

&&

.AVIATION /00Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Predominantly VFR. There is a low chance of MVFR conditions due
to low stratus for southeast NC terminals from pre-dawn to late
morning hours as onshore flow advects a strip of low level
moisture across Cape Fear. Current thinking is the low clouds
will remain few to scattered, but will reevaluate with 6z TAFs.
Otherwise mostly clear skies Sunday. Light winds overnight
become 5-10 kt southeasterlies Sunday with gusts around 15 kts.

Extended Forecast...Predominantly VFR. High pressure to dominate
during the upcoming work week.

&&

.MARINE...
Through Sunday...Southwesterly winds at 10 kts will continue this
afternoon ahead of a dry front heading in from the north. Front will
move through the waters tonight, allowing the winds to back to the
ESE. Seas remain locked in at 2-3 ft, perhaps some 4 ft waves out 20
nm from shore from Cape Fear to Surf City.

Sunday night through Wednesday night... As the backdoor front lifts
away, expect southeasterly winds on Sunday night to veer to
southerly on Monday. As high pressure shifts offshore early in the
week, expect south to southwesterly flow to prevail with speeds
varying between 5-15 kts, with nearshore gustiness likely due to the
sea breeze.

Seas in the 2-4 ft range this weekend will subside to 2-3 ft from
Monday onward. The primary contributor to the wave spectrum will
remain east to southeasterly swells with a period around 9-10 sec
while southerly wind waves become more noticeable starting on Monday
in the 1-2 ft range.
